Asheville Art Supplies for Kids became a heart project of mine after I was looking to donate a large amount of beads and beading supplies in early 2019. Hoping for a tax deduction, a social media post revealed the grim reality of how financially decimated our area art educators have become. And, I had no idea! I realized that while residents with children are aware of the funding challenges, there is a large majority of residents that are unaware. It was at that moment I decided I needed to help.

The value of community educational programs that focus on hands-on learning benefits our youth in ways that are immeasurable. Math, geometry, chemistry, and hand and eye coordination are just a few of the things learned and practiced when making / creating objects and things.

With my background as a studio potter and jewelry designer I know how rich Asheville is with artists and crafters. The idea of raising funds and gathering unused, slightly used, or overstock supplies to distribute to educational programs became essential.

I moved to Asheville in 1995 and shortly thereafter became a studio potter and later a jewelry designer. Now, a full-time Real Estate Agent, I enjoy working with locals buying and/or selling their homes, helping out-of-towners relocate to the area, and giving back to our wonderful Asheville community.
